About Restoration Team Ltd
Restoration Team Ltd is a specialist heritage building restoration contractor working across London and the South East.
We undertake the conservation, repair and restoration of historic, listed and traditional buildings for main contractors, architects, surveyors, property managers and private clients.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Stonemason / Stone Restorer to join our team on a self-employed CIS basis.
The Role
The successful applicant will work on a variety of heritage and façade restoration projects. The role requires excellent practical skills, attention to detail and an understanding of traditional building materials and conservation methods.
Duties will include:
- Natural stone repairs and restoration
- Stone repair mortar applications
- Cutting out and forming stone indents
- Rebuilding and repairing damaged masonry
- Lime mortar pointing and repointing
- Brick repairs and brick replacement
- Stucco and façade repairs
- Masonry cleaning and paint removal
- Colour matching, finishing and masonry toning
- Forming moulded details, cornices, window surrounds and cills
- Working from drawings, repair schedules and site instructions
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety
Essential Experience
Applicants should have:
- Proven experience as a stonemason, stone restorer or heritage masonry specialist
- Experience working on listed, historic or pre-1919 buildings
- Good knowledge of lime mortars and traditional masonry materials
- Experience carrying out stone repairs, brick repairs and repointing
- The ability to match existing profiles, textures and finishes
- A valid CSCS card
- Public liability insurance
- Own hand tools and suitable PPE
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A professional and reliable approach
- The right to work in the UK
A full UK driving licence is preferred due to the location of different projects.
Desirable Skills
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Portland stone and Bath stone repairs
- Façade restoration systems
- Tuck pointing
- Terracotta restoration
- Stucco restoration
- Masonry colour toning
- Crack stitching and structural masonry repairs
- DOFF or ThermaTech cleaning
- Running mouldings and decorative details
