Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and hands on Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in the successful operation of our busy restaurant and bar. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high operational standards, motivating the team, and driving business performance.
This role is ideal for someone with previous hospitality management or supervisory experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a genuine passion for food, drinks, customer service, and team development.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Assist in leading and motivating front of house and bar teams.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Conduct daily team briefings and communicate operational goals.
- Lead shifts confidently and ensure smooth service throughout trading hours.
- Foster a positive, professional and inclusive working culture.
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching where required.
- Support disciplinary procedures and performance management when necessary.
Customer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer experiences and act as a role model for service excellence.
- Resolve guest complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Build strong relationships with regular customers and local community members.
- Ensure guests receive friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable service at all times.
- Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
Operations Management
- Support the day to day running of restaurant and bar operations.
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and venue appearance.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food, beverages, and supplies.
- Conduct regular stock counts and minimise wastage.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and company procedures.
Financial Responsibilities
- Assist in achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Monitor labour costs and support rota planning.
- Handle cash management procedures, banking, and till reconciliation.
- Help drive food, beverage, and promotional sales.
- Support budget management and cost-control initiatives.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all Health & Safety regulations are followed.
- Maintain Food Hygiene and HACCP standards.
- Support compliance with allergen legislation and food safety procedures.
- Ensure licensing regulations relating to alcohol service are strictly followed.
- Complete relevant compliance documentation and operational checks.
Business Development
- Assist in implementing promotions, events and seasonal campaigns.
- Help drive customer engagement through local marketing initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Support the General Manager in achieving business growth objectives.
Skills & Experience Required Essential
- Previous experience in a hospitality as deputy manager or assistant manager role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience working in a busy restaurant, pub, bar or food-led hospitality venue.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining service standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Personal Licence holder or willingness to obtain one.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
