This is an exciting opportunity to join the Academic Content Operations team. As a Content Manager, your role will be to manage the entire production process of books across a range of subject areas, working with authors from submission of manuscripts to the delivery of final print and digital files.

Content Managers sit within Content Operations, the team responsible for the publication processes and quality assurance for our Academic books, Elements and journals. There are therefore opportunities to learn more about other content types and subjects and we encourage learning and flexibility.
About the role
You will liaise with external contacts (editors and authors, including high-profile academics) and internal colleagues (Editorial, Design, Content Services, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales), as well as external suppliers, to achieve the best results for Cambridge and the academic community.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Liaising with authors
- Evaluating manuscripts and preparing titles for production
- Writing cover briefs
- Checking proofs and revised proofs
- Monitoring schedules and troubleshooting issues, involving freelancers and typesetters as needed
This role is ideal for a person who can be both organised and innovative; we have a high volume of content to handle alongside our improvement initiatives. Excellent communication skills, efficiency, and a willingness to trial new workflows are key for this role. You will be provided with ongoing training and development opportunities to support our products and your own career goals.
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.
About You
It is expected that following experience would have been attained in the workplace:
- Experience in, or at least awareness of, the publishing industry
- Understanding of publishing and/or production/operations processes
- The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing A high standard of computer literacy: full Microsoft package, Photoshop, Acrobat
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in your work
- The ability to work quickly to tight deadlines
- Confident managing multiple priorities and projects
- Excellent time management

While this role is advertised at Content Manager level, we're also open to considering candidates with less experience for an Associate level role.
