Based in Chettisham, Ely, Metro Rod Cambridge is a growing business with an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding customer service, technical expertise and practical solutions.
As a small, independently owned Metro Rod franchise, every member of our team plays an important role in our success. We value initiative, recognise hard work and encourage new ideas that help us continually improve the service we provide to our customers.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Operations & Sales Coordinator to join our friendly team.
The Role
This is far more than a traditional administration role.
You'll be at the centre of the business, supporting customers, coordinating engineers, preparing quotations, identifying sales opportunities and helping us deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Every day is different. One minute you'll be speaking to a customer with an emergency drainage issue, the next you'll be scheduling engineers, preparing quotations, liaising with commercial clients or supporting marketing and customer communications.
You'll play an important part in ensuring work runs smoothly from the initial enquiry through to completion, helping us build long-term relationships with our customers and continue to grow the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer enquiries by telephone and email, providing an excellent first impression of the business.
- Build strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Schedule engineers efficiently, ensuring maximum productivity and excellent customer service.
- Prepare quotations and proactively follow up sales opportunities.
- Support customers throughout the lifecycle of their jobs, from enquiry through to completion.
- Ensure engineers have the correct job information, site details and client requirements before attending site.
- Liaise confidently with commercial clients, engineers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Support reporting, administration and the smooth day-to-day running of the office.
- Assist with marketing activity, including social media, customer communications and promoting our services.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer service, generate additional work and support business growth.
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure every customer receives an outstanding experience.
- Participate in the on-call rota (additional £1,000 per annum).
About You
This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service while helping to grow the business. If you're looking for a varied role where you can make a real difference and be part of a supportive, ambitious team, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in an office, coordination or customer service role.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of tasks.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Confidence speaking with customers, engineers and colleagues at all levels.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a close-knit team.
- A willingness to participate in the on-call rota.
Experience within drainage, engineering, construction or facilities management would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

- A friendly, supportive working environment where your ideas and contribution are genuinely valued.
- The opportunity to build a long-term career within a growing and successful business.
