We have an exciting opportunity in our busy kitchen for a full time Kitchen Porter. Do you love working in a busy kitchen? Do you have a passion for working with people who love fresh, locally sourced or home grown food? Then this job could be perfect for you!
We are looking for someone who is a great Team worker and ideally has experience in kitchens but this is not essential.
The role is full time, 5 days a week and the best bit is we won't usually ask you to work weekends, so great sociable hours and no weekends - very rare in this industry!
The key responsibilities for the role of Kitchen Porter at Hilltop Farm are below:
Washing up
· To wash up as required in the kitchen.
· To put clean utensils back to their correct place in the kitchen.
· To take clean crockery back to café.
· To ensure steriliser is working correctly and ensure any maintenance problems are reported to the Head Chef
· To minimise breakages of crockery during washing process.
Hygiene
· To ensure work station is kept to a good level of hygiene throughout the shift.
· To sweep and mop down floors at the end of every shift in work area.
· To support Kitchen Team with deep cleaning as required.
· To support Kitchen Team with record keeping as required.
· To complete daily hygiene tasks & checks as per procedure.
Waste management
· To empty bins as required throughout each shift.
· To manage waste, so recycling and food waste are all disposed of as required.
Food prep
· To assist with food prep as required, when time allows.
Summary
As a Kitchen Porter, you will be an essential part of our Kitchen Team, reporting directly to the Head Chef. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen washing up area and use the machines provided to wash up and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, pots and pans that are used.
We expect you to have relevant skills in food preparation and kitchen experience, which will aid in supporting our chefs during busy service periods. Your role is vital in upholding our high standards of hygiene and efficiency, contributing significantly to the overall success of our busy cafe.
