Hours: 7am – 4pm (winter) / 7.30am – 4.30am (summer). Being a seasonal sector, and our plants requiring all-round care, you will be required to work flexibly, which may include longer hours especially in the busy season.
Salary: £35k - £45k per annum DOE, annual bonus (based on company sales and performance), 28 days holidays, large, fully equipped staff canteen, staff games/breakout/wellbeing room, free parking.

About the Production Lead Grower opportunity
Anglo are now hiring for an excellent leadership opportunity. We’re seeking an experienced Production Lead Grower to work closely alongside and support our Nursery Operations Manager. This experienced role will manage all Production aspects of the nursery – leading the Propagation and Potting Teams to produce large quantities of plants for the current and forthcoming season and manage Plugs, Plant Health & Irrigation. You will set best practice regarding quality and take the initiative to plan and organise a broad variety of production activities, including managing space-utilisation across the nursery. You’ll have overall responsibility for stock ordering and monitoring, seed-sowing, propagation, managing large quantities of plugs. You will be responsible for leading critical Potting Operations (our vital all-year-around activity) that drive the production cycle at Anglo, including operating the potting machine and troubleshooting mechanical faults when required.
About You:
You’ll be the lead expert on site regarding Plant Health, so extensive previous plant knowledge in a leadership setting and relevant Horticultural qualification is essential for this role. Although we do not necessarily require you to have specific experience with Aquatic Plants, you will have detailed knowledge of plant health and the activities associated with running a world-class plant production facility. It’s likely you are currently operating within the Horticulture/Agriculture/Production sector at Supervisor/Senior Team Leader/Grower level.
This role is physically demanding and outdoors-based – you will have a sound level of fitness and a ‘hands-on’ approach, with a naturally curious, big-picture mindset, unwavering high standards, attention to detail and quality, and sense of urgency for timescales. Working quickly with numbers and calculations comes easily to you, and you have a comprehensive understanding of the cycle of production and you are competent with plant and machinery. You are an exceptional team leader and coach who enjoys supporting others. You will be meticulously well-organised and take pride in high standards, cleanliness and organisation at work.
Our high sales season runs from March to July and outside of these times, our production teams are busy in our Nursery growing, nurturing and preparing stock for the following year.
Key Responsibilities
· Working in collaboration with and supporting the Nursery Manager across production operations, understanding the overall production infrastructure, systems and processes – troubleshooting across plant machinery, logistics, irrigation systems, pumps and plant quality.
· Manage plant health, including seeding, watering, pruning, pest control and spraying
· You will work with the Propagation Lead and manage the propagation team.
· You’ll be solely responsible for the potting operations, ensuring the safe and efficient running of the potting machine - including changing pot sizes, keeping correct soil mixes continually topped up and overseeing production quality.
· You will be driving forklifts, telehandlers and other plant machinery to ensure potting operations run smoothly and with minimal down-time
· Managing logistics around site safely and efficiently
· Building great working relationships with the nursery Production Team, setting clear expectations on tasks in daily morning briefings
· Maintain inventory and managing stock of necessary supplies
· Implement and enforce safety and health regulations
Skills & Experience: Essential & Beneficial
· Essential: Leadership – several years’ experience in a managerial or team leadership role within Horticulture as a Production Supervisor and/or Grower
· Essential: Relevant Horticulture qualification and experience, including PA1//PA6 spraying license
· Essential: Comprehensive understanding of irrigation systems
· Essential: Planning and scheduling large-scale Horticulture production activities
· Beneficial: Experience/Competent driver of plant machinery – Telescopic Handler License / Telehandler Counterbalance license (or be willing to undertake)
