Fibre Engineer - MET Connections
About the role
We're looking for a skilled Fibre Engineer to join our field delivery team. You'll be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing and commissioning of fibre optic networks — taking connections from the network through to live, fully tested services. This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to someone who takes pride in clean workmanship and right-first-time delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Install, route and terminate fibre optic cabling across the network. Underground required, overhead capabilities desired also.
- Carry out fusion splicing of fibre at joints, cabinets and customer premises.
- Test and certify completed work using OTDR, power meters and light sources.
- Complete installations to agreed quality, safety and time standards.
- Maintain accurate records, as-built documentation and job completion reports.
- Work safely in line with all relevant health & safety and streetworks regulations.
- Liaise professionally with customers, landowners and colleagues on site.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fibre optic installation, splicing and testing.
- Confident using fusion splicers, OTDRs and optical test equipment.
- Experience in the Openreach PIA network
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Full, valid UK driving licence.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices on site.
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work as part of a team of two with minimal supervision.
- NRSWA / Streetworks accreditation (Unit 002 / O1–O8).

Pay: £34,500.00-£46,000.00 per year
