Strickland MFG is seeking a skilled and motivated Industrial Painter to join our Production team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to play a key role in ensuring our earthmoving, demolition and recycling attachments are finished to the highest standards before leaving our facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, painting and finishing heavy-duty attachments using specialist coating systems. Working closely with fabrication, refurbishment and assembly teams, you will help ensure our products are durable, corrosion-resistant and visually consistent with customer and company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Surface Preparation
- Prepare metal surfaces through grinding, sanding, cleaning and degreasing processes.
- Remove rust, scale and contaminants to ensure suitable paint adhesion.
- Inspect components before painting and identify any defects requiring attention.
- Mask and protect areas where coating is not required.
Painting and Finishing
- Apply primers, topcoats and specialist coatings using airless spray systems and conventional spray equipment.
- Mix paints and coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications and colour requirements.
- Ensure coatings achieve the required finish, thickness and durability standards.
- Carry out touch-ups, repairs and rework on new and refurbished equipment where required.
Quality and Production
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and customer specifications are met.
- Follow job specifications, production schedules and work instructions.
- Work closely with colleagues across production to maintain efficient workflow and meet delivery deadlines.
- Report quality concerns, equipment faults or production issues promptly.
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
- Maintain spray booths, spray guns and associated equipment in good working condition.
- Comply with all health, safety and environmental procedures, including COSHH requirements.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in an industrial, automotive, manufacturing or engineering painting environment and be confident using spray-painting equipment.
You will have a keen eye for detail, take pride in producing high-quality work and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
- Previous industrial spray-painting experience.
- Experience preparing metal surfaces for painting and coating.
- Knowledge of paint application techniques and coating systems.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and job specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work to production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Desirable Requirements
- Experience painting heavy machinery, attachments or construction equipment.
- Knowledge of airless spray systems.
- Experience working within a fabrication, engineering or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Forklift, overhead crane or lifting operations experience.
