Experienced Taxi Controller / Dispatcher
Roadrunners is one of the South East's leading private hire operators, providing transport across Surrey, Sussex and the surrounding areas.
As we continue to grow, we are looking to recruit an experienced Taxi Controller / Dispatcher to join our Operations Team.
This is a busy, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. We are looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively and confidently manage a live operation.
The Role
As a Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of our control room, ensuring bookings are dispatched efficiently while maintaining exceptional customer service and supporting our driver network.
You will work closely with drivers, customers and colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch bookings efficiently using Autocab.
- Monitor the live operation and manage service levels.
- Allocate and reallocate bookings where required.
- Support drivers throughout their shift.
- Manage delays and keep customers informed.
- Monitor airport transfers, pre-bookings and priority work.
- Work collaboratively with the wider operations team.
- Ensure booking information is accurate.
- Escalate operational issues where appropriate.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
- Complete accurate end-of-shift reports and handovers.
- Assist with maintaining company service standards and operational procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Taxi Controller / Dispatcher.
- Strong working knowledge of Autocab (Preferred but not essential)
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Strong geographical awareness.

- Calm under pressure.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within a private hire environment.
- Airport dispatch experience.
- School transport experience.
- Knowledge of driver compliance.
- Experience working in a busy control room.
- Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues.

Essential Information
Previous Taxi Controller / Dispatcher experience is essential.
Autocab experience is essential.

Pay: £24,420.00-£45,347.21 per year
