Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation and cooking, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment, supporting senior chefs and contributing to the smooth operation of our kitchen. Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is preferred, along with a passion for food and service excellence.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with recipes and standards
Support senior chefs with food production, ensuring timely delivery of dishes during service periods
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are monitored
Contribute to the presentation of dishes, ensuring they meet visual standards
Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper handling of equipment and ingredients
Support team members during busy service times, fostering a collaborative working environment
Assist in training junior staff or trainees when required, demonstrating leadership qualities

Requirements

Proven experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant or hospitality setting is highly desirable
Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
Supervising experience or team management skills are advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Passion for culinary arts with a keen interest in developing further skills within the hospitality industry
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends and evenings if necessary
