The principal role of the Receptionist is to deliver an efficient, welcoming reception service, whilst managing other essential administrative duties. Lead in the reception of patients to the Endoscopy Suite, providing cross cover to Theatres reception as needed, and ensure efficient administration of all aspects of patient referral, admissions, discharge and bookings in Endoscopy in liaison with endoscopy suite admin staff and ward nursing staff.
Main duties of the job include maintaining a booking system for admissions and discharge of endoscopy and theatres patients to the ward / department / home, maintaining a waiting list system to support the management team in delivering the endoscopy service, and providing administrative and clerical support to the rest of the Endoscopy and theatres team as required.

Carry out tasks in delivering and supporting indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Ensure efficient administration of all aspects of patient admission to hospital is carried out in liaison with the senior nursing staff in Endoscopy or Theatres.
Managing all referrals and bookings for Private care service.
Communicating bookings as a priority with private care accounts to ensure finances are secured with embassy/insurance company/self funding patients to ensure procedure is not delayed.
Participate in the Trust’s appraisal and personal development plan schemes by meeting with the manager at least annually.
Assist with the supervision and teaching ward clerks and clinic administrators.
Consistently demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors in the clinical area within their own capabilities.
Carry out assigned clerical tasks as directed by a registered nurse
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested
