Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator (Construction)
Location: Hybrid / Office-Based with Travel to North Ferriby, East Yorkshire
Salary: £33,000 – £39,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our growing construction estimating consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and professional environment, supporting the delivery of accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for a wide range of UK construction projects.
The role will be hybrid, following a training and induction period, combining remote working with office-based work and regular travel to North Ferriby, East Yorkshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects
- Producing and reviewing Bills of Quantities in accordance with SMM7 and/or NRM2 standards
- Taking off quantities from drawings and specifications
- Supporting senior estimators with pricing and tender submissions
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations
- Analysing drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Maintaining accurate records of project costs and assumptions
- Assisting with value engineering and cost planning exercises
Essential Requirements
- Proven knowledge and understanding of Bills of Quantities to SMM7 and/or NRM2 standards
- Experience in quantity take-offs and construction estimating
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to North Ferriby
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Familiarity with estimating software such as Conquest, CostX, or similar
- Experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, or industrial projects
- Strong communication and organisational skills
