Hourly Paid Lecturer in Academic Study Skills/English Language Support

Vacancy Ref 51726 Location Birmingham Salary £43.75 per hour plus a holiday entitlement of 18.03% Closing Date Sunday, June 21, 2026 - ABOUT US - The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) traces its heritage back to the first university in Wales, receiving its Royal Charter in 1828. UWTSD now teaches over 16,000 students across its six campuses in the UK; four in Wales and two in England. It has long-standing international educational partnerships in Europe, China, Malaysia, the USA and elsewhere. We are now building on this strong culture and provision to become a leading provider of accessible higher education. - THE ROLE – The post holder will be required to devise a range of teaching and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas and may lead on modules and programmes, primarily, but not exclusively those which provide English Language and Academic Skills Development and Support. Main duties will include: • Deliver teaching, learning and assessments, as well as provide support to students • Deliver teaching and learning strategies in a variety of contexts using appropriate and engaging teaching and learning styles • Be involved in the design and development of high-quality teaching and learning material • Supervise the work of students in a timely, professional and supportive manner, providing necessary advice on study skills, research methods, assessment and dissertation work. • Offer appropriate feedback, support, and encouragement to students to ensure a high-quality student experience. - REQUIREMENTS - You should have: • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline • Experience in teaching English language with relevant delivery, assessment and student support • Demonstrable organizational and personal management skills • Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills with evidence of a commitment to team working and teaching • IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources • Evidence of ability to balance competing pressures of teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines Please see the job description for full duties, and ‘essential’ and ‘desirable’ requirements. - FURTHER INFORMATION - This role has flexible hours across the weekday and weekend.
