We are a busy and expanding fabrication company seeking an experienced General Machinist / Fabrication Engineer to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on role with the opportunity to progress into a Team Leader position for the right candidate.
We are looking for a motivated, practical individual who takes pride in producing high-quality work and can help drive productivity, quality and continuous improvement within the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- General machining using manual machine tools.
- Fabrication, fitting and assembly of engineered components.
- Tube bending and fabrication.
- Presswork and operation of press machinery.
- Assisting with press brake (bend and fold) operations where required.
- Manufacturing and repairing jigs, fixtures and production tooling.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Drilling, tapping, cutting and preparing materials.
- Supporting production, maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in general engineering, fabrication or machining.
- Experience with tube bending and presswork.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Competent using workshop machinery and hand tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- MIG and TIG welding experience.
- Experience operating manual lathes and milling machines.
- Experience with press brakes and sheet metal fabrication.
- CNC machining experience.
- Forklift licence (preferred but not essential).
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
Team Leader Opportunity
