Alliance is looking for applications from suitably qualified applicants who are interested in entering a Consultancy Agreement to provide psychological assessments and a range of evidence-based psychological interventions within the Alliance Plus Wellbeing team.
They will deliver clinics for external contractors, working closely with Occupational Health partners to provide a psychological perspective to a multidisciplinary, holistic wellbeing management team managing occupational stress, burnout and trauma. They will have experience in the safety assessment and mental health conditions, as well as of recommending and delivering trauma interventions.
They will be passionate about supporting public servants, comfortable working as part of a team and ultimately act as a liaison between Occupational Health and Alliance to ensure timely transitions from referral to treatment, or onward referral to other services. They will carry out assessments, provide advice to Wellbeing teams and work with a caseload including complex presentations.
This position is currently for three days per month and will require police vetting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist contractors in coordinating delivery of therapeutic interventions or onward referrals as part of the Alliance Plus wellbeing service
- To understand the circumstances of staff working in front line health or policing roles, including experience of diagnosing and working with PTSD
- Psychological assessment/diagnosis and treatment planning of clients referred to the service and to coordinate their onward referral to alternative services where appropriate.
- To liaise with Occupational Health professionals, counsellors and others to ensure timely transitions from referral to treatment, and to carry a caseload which includes work with clients.
- To provide support and guidance to staff within Occupational Health services and other teams about the mental health needs of the client group
- To work as a member of the Alliance Plus Wellbeing Team
- To create and maintain effective working relationships within the Alliance Team and elsewhere with external partners.
- To offer advice and support to other members of the wider Primary Care Team, including GPs and other Health Professionals, on mental health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for patients with mental health needs.

- To provide full psychological assessment, including safety assessment, of clients referred by Occupational Health or Wellbeing services to establish psychological fitness for their work or role.

- To select and deliver a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions in collaboration with the client if required.

Qualifications and Training
Educated to Level 6 in Psychology
Evidence of training relevant for this post
Good record of Continuing Professional Development and willingness to continue this.
Doctorate in counselling psychology or equivalent
Accreditation/registration with BPS or another recognised professional organisation.
Knowledge & Experience
Substantial experience of working in Mental Health Services
Experience of conducting clinical assessments and making treatment recommendations.
Understanding of the circumstances of staff working in front line health or policing roles, including experience of diagnosing and working with PTSD
Experience in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
Awareness of a range of therapeutic approaches.
Ability to manage own caseload and time.
Demonstrates high standards in written communication.
Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers.
Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
Experience of working with Blue Light organisations
Experience of delivering CBT or EMDR.
