Background to the role:

Welcoming over 100,000 visitors a year, Exeter Cathedral is the principal church of the Diocese of Exeter and contains the Bishop’s seat, which is the symbol of his authority. The Cathedral is run and managed by the Chapter, with support from the College of Canons.

Purpose of the Role:

Our Cafe, located in the historic Chapter House, caters to both visitors and locals alike. We are looking to recruit new team members on a part-time basis and can offer flexible hours. Ideally, you'll have some experience, but don't worry, we can train you. So, as long as you're enthusiastic, positive, reliable, friendly, and confident, we'd love you to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver orders to tables
Clear tables, both inside the cafe and in our garden, quickly and efficiently
Ensure tables are well presented at all times
Load the dishwasher with crockery and cutlery, operate, unload and stack away after each completed cycle
Keep the kitchen area clean and organised while on shift
To adhere to a cleaning schedule in place as agreed with the Manager and adhering to COSHH systems in place.
Able to work on your own and part of a wider team.
Be flexible to work with the other changing day-to-day operations of the Cathedral.
Always working in line with Food Hygiene regulations

Candidate Profile

Essential

Ideally, you will have previous experience in a similar role. We are happy to train the right person.
Ability to achieve and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
Have a flexible approach to hours. We can offer between 12 and 24 hours a week over 3 or 6 days.
An ability to work on your own and remain calm when under pressure.
An ability to ‘think on your feet’ in response to unexpected situations.
Must be in sympathy with the ethos of the Anglican Church.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
