Community Mental Health Support Worker
Pay: £12.85-£14.35 per hour
Location: Exeter
Salary: £12.85 per hour + £1.50/hour enhancement for weekends & overtime
Hours: Full-time, flexible shifts including weekends and evenings
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Mental Health Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide vital support to individuals with mental health disorders, including those with autism , within community settings. This role involves working closely with clients to promote their well-being, independence, and social integration. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalised care and support.
The role requires working within a team and as an individual. All staff receive excellent training, support and regular supervision. This is a varied and interesting role that would suit someone who would like to progress in their career in the social care sector or someone who has never worked in the sector but has useful life experience and a caring attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with mental health conditions, including those with autism and disabilities, in daily activities and community engagement.
- Implement behaviour management strategies, including applied behaviour analysis techniques, to support behavioural improvements.
- Support clients with medication administration following prescribed protocols, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and review personalised care plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment by recognising and responding appropriately to behavioural or emotional crises.
- Engage in activities that promote social skills development, independence, and community participation.
- Maintain accurate records of support provided, progress notes, and any incidents in accordance with organisational policies.
Experience:
- Prior experience working with Adults in a mental health social care setting is desirable.
- Experience with supporting individuals with complex social care needs is preferred.
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures within a healthcare or support environment is beneficial.
- Background in patient care or caring for individuals with disabilities will be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy are essential for success in this role. Hours and Salary: £12.85 per hour to £14.35 per hour for overtime and weekend hours.
Working a combination of shifts, with enhanced payments for Saturday evenings, Sundays, and bank holidays. Pay is reviewed and uplifted annually in April.
