As our business continues to expand, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Buyer / Trainee Buyer to join our growing team.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within a supportive and ambitious business. Whether you already have some buying experience or are looking to take your first step into a purchasing role, we are keen to hear from candidates who are eager to learn and develop.
You will work closely with the Head Buyer and wider sales team to help manage stock levels, develop product ranges, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the buying department.
This is a varied, hands-on role within a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Reordering stock using the OrderWise Warehouse Management System
- Monitoring stock levels to maintain product availability while minimising overstock and waste
- Supporting the development and management of product ranges to maximise sales performance
- Analysing sales data and supplier performance alongside the sales team
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date product information within OrderWise
- Carrying out stock checks and inventory control tasks
- Managing invoice queries, pricing discrepancies, and supplier credits
- Monitoring and managing short-dated stock
- Recording faulty stock and arranging supplier returns or collections
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers
- Providing ongoing support to the Head Buyer and wider purchasing team
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and eager to learn.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive and self-motivated approach
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous buying or purchasing experience
- Warehouse or stock control experience
- Experience using OrderWise or similar systems
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
