Company Overview
Bricks Finance Ltd is a successful, privately-owned lender specialising in asset-backed finance to individuals and businesses across England and Wales with a regional focus on the South West. Having completed over 260 loans worth more than £245m since 2014, we have built a strong reputation for fast, flexible lending. We support borrowers with unregulated short-term loans typically secured against property.
Bricks is growing steadily, and we are now looking for an experienced Lending Manager to develop new broker relationships, source and assess lending opportunities, and manage loans through to redemption as we expand our portfolio. You will report directly to the Head of Lending.
Successful candidates will be required to attend the Exeter office on at least Mondays and Tuesdays, so being based within the South West, including Bristol and the surrounding area, is essential.
The Role:
· Manage a portfolio of introducer relationships, proactively establishing new contacts.
· Provide a pipeline of new lending opportunities from introducers and direct contacts
· Represent Bricks at industry networking events across the region.
· Analyse and triage new lending opportunities, prepare reasoned credit papers, and manage the full credit assessment process including ID verification and security due diligence.
· Manage a portfolio of active borrowers as their primary point of contact throughout the life of the loan.
· Conduct face-to-face meetings with clients at initial review stage and carry out regular site visits to monitor progress on development loans.
· Assess development works at key stages to approve drawdown requests.
· Monitor loans through to full repayment.
· Where required, manage borrowers who have missed payments or are struggling to meet their obligations.
Your Experience and Skills:
· You have a strong credit background, with experience evaluating and underwriting asset-backed lending opportunities. You understand what makes a good loan and, equally importantly, what makes a bad one.
· You have experience performing quantitative analysis of complex financial data to determine the creditworthiness of a borrower.
· You have a demonstrable track record of generating new lending opportunities.
· You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present a well-reasoned case clearly and succinctly.
· You have a meticulous approach to detail and take pride in the accuracy and quality of your work.
· Experience in development finance, including assessing construction progress and approving stage drawdowns, is desirable but not essential.
· We would expect candidates to have a minimum of five years' experience in a relevant lending role, with a track record of operating independently.
About You:
· You are self-motivated and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy. You manage your own time, prioritise effectively, and do not need close day-to-day oversight to perform.
· You are a good communicator, equally at ease presenting a lending case to a director, managing expectations with a broker, or handling a sensitive conversation with a borrower under financial pressure.
· You build and maintain strong relationships across your professional network — with introducers, clients, and professional partners.
· You thrive in a small, fast-moving business where your contribution is visible and your decisions have real consequences.
· You hold a full UK driving licence and have the right to work in the UK.
