hours are based in willand EX15 2RL a small private holiday let pool. Also have hours available in Taunton area.
you will be teaching small group classes of 6 per class, with a swim assistant in the pool with you.
weekday evening hours are 3.45pm - 6.15pm Tuesday-Friday and Sunday morning 10-1pm (term time only)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Swimming Teacher to oversee and deliver high-quality swimming lessons for a diverse range of learners. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning engaging sessions, ensuring safety standards are maintained, and fostering a positive learning environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about sports coaching and teaching to make a meaningful impact on participants’ aquatic skills and confidence.
Duties
- Lead and organise swimming lessons for individuals and groups across various age ranges and skill levels.
- Develop customised lesson plans that promote skill development, safety, and enjoyment.
- Monitor participants’ progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to motivate improvement.
- Ensure all safety protocols are strictly adhered to during lessons, including supervising poolside activities.
- Maintain equipment and pool area cleanliness, safety, and organisation at all times.
- Train and mentor junior instructors or assistants to uphold teaching standards.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, or programme coordinators regarding participant progress and programme updates.
- Stay informed about current coaching techniques, swimming standards, and health & safety regulations relevant to aquatic instruction.
Skills
- Proven experience in sports coaching, particularly in swimming instruction.
- Strong teaching abilities with the capacity to adapt communication styles to suit different learners.
- Excellent organisational skills to plan engaging lessons that meet diverse needs.
- Ability to motivate participants while maintaining a safe environment at all times.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues, participants, and their families.
- Certification in lifeguarding or first aid is desirable but not essential; willingness to obtain relevant qualifications is expected. This role is ideal for passionate sports coaches with a love for teaching swimming who thrive in dynamic environments dedicated to participant development and safety.
Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour
