About Us

At Oxfordshire County Council, we are transforming the way we support children, young people and families through our Best Start Family Hubs. Family Hubs provide welcoming community spaces where families can access information, advice, activities and support from a range of services and partners.

We are looking for a friendly, organised and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Family Hub Receptionist & Support Assistant.

About the Role

As the first point of contact for families visiting the Family Hub, you will play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for children, parents, carers and professionals. You will help families access information, services and activities while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the hub. This varied role combines reception, administration and communications responsibilities. You will welcome visitors, manage enquiries, support session bookings, maintain attendance records and help keep information materials, displays and promotional resources up to date. You will work closely with Family Hub staff, volunteers and partner organisations, helping to ensure families receive the right support at the right time

About you

We are looking for someone who:

Is passionate about delivering excellent customer service.
Has previous administrative and front-line customer service experience.
Can communicate confidently and professionally with a wide range of people.
Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Is confident using Microsoft Office applications and electronic record systems.
Can remain calm and professional when dealing with sensitive or challenging situations.
Works well independently and as part of a team.
Shares our commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting families
Experience of working in children's services, early help, community settings or Family Hubs would be an advantage but is not essential.

Your office base may be subject to change as we are currently transitioning between temporary and permanent office locations due to the closure of County Hall. If this is applicable to you, you will be notified, but no reimbursement will apply in respect of travel.
