The Role
We are looking for an Experienced Conveyancing Assistant to provide high-level support to our Conveyancing Solicitors and Fee Earners dealing with local properties and providing a bespoke service to our clients.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to post-completion and will be capable of working independently on administrative tasks to keep files moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Support: Assisting with the preparation of contracts, property searches, and Land Registry applications.
- Client Liaison: Serving as a primary point of contact for clients, estate agents, and mortgage lenders, providing timely updates on the progress of transactions.
- Financial Admin: Preparing completion statements, requesting redemption figures, and coordinating the exchange of funds.
- Post-Completion: Handling SDLT returns, registrations at the Land Registry, and the closing/archiving of files.
- Compliance: Ensuring all files meet AML (Anti-Money Laundering) requirements and adhere to Lexcel quality standards.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential conveyancing department is essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using Case Management Systems and a strong grasp of the end-to-end conveyancing workflow.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the King’s Lynn/West Norfolk property market is a distinct advantage.
- Attributes:
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict completion deadlines.
- High attention to detail (essential for Land Registry and SDLT forms).
- Excellent telephone manner and the ability to manage client expectations with empathy.
- Education: Strong academic background; specialised conveyancing certifications (e.g., CLC modules) are a plus.
