We are seeking a proactive Finance & Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day financial administration of the business while providing operational support across order processing and inventory control.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role will focus primarily on sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations, credit control and month-end support, while also helping ensure the smooth flow of information between finance, warehouse and customer operations.

Responsibilities
Finance & Accounts
- Process sales and purchase invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain customer and supplier accounts within the accounting system.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and post cash receipts and payments.
- Assist with credit control activities, including chasing overdue debts.
- Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve account discrepancies.
- Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and filing systems.
- Support month-end procedures including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for review by the Financial Controller.
Commercial Administration
- Process customer orders and invoices accurately within company systems, ensuring financial and operational records remain aligned.
- Liaise with customers regarding order status, deliveries and account queries.
Operational Support
- Liaise with warehouse and customer service teams to resolve invoice, order and stock discrepancies.
- Assist with stock reconciliations to support accurate inventory and financial reporting.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business processes and efficiencies.
Candidate Attributes
Essential
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar finance role.
- Experience of sales ledger and purchase ledger processes.
- Experience performing bank reconciliations.
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Strong Excel skills including lookups and data analysis.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently within a small business environment.
Desirable
- Experience supporting month-end accounting processes.
- Experience assisting with VAT returns.
- Sage 200 experience.
- Experience within a stock-based, distribution or manufacturing business.
- AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT.
Success in the role
Within your first 12 months you will:
- Take ownership of day-to-day sales and purchase ledger activities.
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier accounts.
- Complete bank reconciliations accurately and on time.
- Support the production of monthly management accounts.
- Contribute to improvements in finance and operational processes.
- Develop a strong understanding of Oraldent's products, systems and supply chain.
