1to1 Transport is a growing transport and logistics business operating in a fast-paced UK haulage environment. We work daily with drivers, subcontractors, customers, UK ports and transport systems to ensure collections and deliveries are completed efficiently and on time.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Transport Operator to join our busy transport office.
This is a key operational role suited to someone who understands the pressure of running trucks properly day to day. The right person will be confident managing drivers, planning work, solving problems quickly and keeping transport operations moving throughout the day.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Transport Operator who can take responsibility for running trucks on a day-to-day basis, planning work efficiently, communicating clearly with drivers and customers, and ensuring collections and deliveries are completed on time.
This role is specifically suited to someone with previous experience in a haulage, container transport, traffic office or transport planning environment.
Previous experience as a Transport Operator, Traffic Operator, Transport Planner or within a haulage office is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include:
- Running trucks on a day-to-day basis within a busy transport office
- Planning and routing vehicles efficiently
- Allocating work to drivers
- Managing daily collections and deliveries
- Liaising with drivers throughout the day
- Monitoring driver progress, ETAs and job status
- Keeping customers updated on delivery and collection progress
- Dealing with changes, delays and operational issues quickly and professionally
- Communicating with subcontractors where required
- Communicating with UK ports
- Booking Vehicle Booking Slots for port entry
- Planning trucks to maximise efficiency, service levels and profitability
- Using a Transport Management System
- Updating jobs accurately on the system
- Checking job details, delivery notes, PODs and relevant paperwork
- Ensuring PODs are matched correctly to the right jobs
- Supporting the wider transport team during busy periods
- Helping ensure vehicles are used effectively and downtime is minimised
- Maintaining strong communication between drivers, customers, subcontractors and the office
- Working calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-moving haulage environment
Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Operator, Traffic Operator, Transport Planner or similar
- Previous haulage office experience
- Experience running trucks day to day
- Strong UK geographical knowledge
- Experience dealing with drivers, customers and subcontractors
- The ability to plan routes and manage changing priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail
- Confidence making quick decisions under pressure
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good IT skills
- An organised, reliable and proactive approach
- The ability to use own initiative
- A flexible approach to meet the demands of the business
- Willingness to be on call as part of a team, if required
Container transport experience would is essential. Experience using a Transport Management System would also be beneficial.
