What we are looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing, and motivated individual to join our company in our customs clearance department. We're looking for someone who is able to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with both internal and external partners. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is already confident in UK customs operations and is looking for their next challenge within the industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of UK import and export customs clearances, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations and delivering excellent operational support to both customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completion of UK import and export customs entries accurately and efficiently
- Liaising with Border Force, Port Health, HMRC and other relevant authorities
- Managing workloads effectively and prioritising tasks in our fast-paced environment
- Supporting the wider operations team whilst being able to work independently and under own initiative
- Identifying and resolving customs related issues proactively
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in UK Import Customs Clearances.
- Good understanding of CDS procedures and customs compliance
- Excellent organisational, time management, and task management skills
- Communication and problem-solving abilities
- Good knowledge of UK Online Customs Tariff and other HMRC websites and tools.
- Good understanding of incoterms in a customs clearance environment.
- Ability to respond to, or identify and escalate, any customer requests, concerns and urgent issues effectivelly and professionally.
- Ability to troubleshoot CDS errors on customs declarations.
- Good working knowledge of CNS, Destin8 and various HMRC portals.
Desirable, but not essential:
- Good working knowledge of Descartes E-Customs system
- Good understanding of IPAFFS and PHILIS portals, required for completion of various import pre-arrival notifications.
- Knowledge of NCTS procedures
- Knowledge of Northern Ireland customs requirements
- Knowledge of special customs procedures, such as personal effects imports, EU Customs, outward/inward processing and other
- Additional freight forwarding or logistics experience
Working hours:
- The role is full-time office based.
- Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:30
- Some occassional weekend and Bank Holiday coverage required
