Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Stopper to join one of our clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing fire-resistant barriers and ensuring compliance with safety standards across various building sites. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, safety protocols, and the ability to work with a variety of tools and materials. The Fire Stopper will play a vital part in safeguarding structures against fire hazards, contributing to the safety of occupants and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Install fire-resistant barriers, such as intumescent paints, sealants, and fire-stopping materials within walls, floors, and ceilings.
- Work closely with project managers and other trades to ensure timely completion of fire stopping tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans to determine appropriate installation methods.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and install fire-stopping products accurately.
- Conduct inspections to verify that installations meet safety standards and building codes.
- Collaborate with roofing, plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry, plastering, welding, fabrication, construction painting, and other trades as required.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency on site.
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently during all phases of work.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction
- Knowledge of schematics and technical drawings relevant to fire stopping installations.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment, and construction materials.
- Familiarity with building safety standards and fire protection regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in installation procedures.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy materials and working at heights if necessary.
- Relevant construction experience is essential for ensuring quality workmanship.
