Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.
Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.
At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.
At Huntingdonshire District Council, our historic environment is at the heart of what makes our places special. As a Conservation Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in protecting and enhancing the district’s rich heritage, providing expert advice on listed buildings, conservation areas and development proposals. Working across a wide range of projects, you'll help ensure that growth and conservation go hand in hand, influencing decisions that preserve our historic assets for future generations.
You are passionate about the historic built environment and bring specialist knowledge of conservation, heritage legislation and building repair. With strong communication and analytical skills, you'll be confident working with developers, residents, councillors and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. Whether assessing complex proposals, advising on policy or supporting appeals, you'll combine technical expertise with a collaborative and creative approach to problem-solving. If you're looking for an opportunity to make a visible impact on the character and quality of our places, we'd love to hear from you.
Join our Planning team and help protect Huntingdonshire's heritage while supporting the sustainable growth of one of the country's most distinctive districts.
