About Us

The Dorset Cancer Care Foundation provides financial assistance to Dorset residents and their families who are experiencing financial hardship due to cancer.

About the Role

The Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF) is establishing three new community‑based Cancer Support Hubs across Bournemouth, Wimborne and Dorchester. These Hubs will offer monthly coffee mornings, drop‑in support, peer connection and information for people affected by cancer.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and highly organised Hub Coordinator to lead the development and delivery of these Hubs. You will be responsible for bringing the model to life, ensuring each Hub becomes a welcoming, reliable and impactful space for local residents.

This is a small but high‑impact role, perfect for someone who enjoys community work, building relationships, and making a tangible difference.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hub Leadership & Delivery

Lead the setup, coordination and smooth running of all three Cancer Support Hubs.
Plan and deliver monthly coffee mornings and drop‑in sessions in each location.
Ensure each Hub is welcoming, safe, inclusive and consistent in quality.
Maintain a warm presence at sessions, supporting attendees and volunteers.

2. Volunteer Coordination

Recruit, onboard and support volunteers for each Hub.
Organise volunteer rotas and ensure appropriate cover for all sessions.
Provide guidance, boundaries and safeguarding support to volunteers.
Foster a positive, supportive volunteer culture.

3. Community Engagement & Partnerships

Build relationships with local partners including GP practices, social prescribers, hospices, community groups and charities.
Promote the Hubs locally and raise awareness of DCCF’s financial support grants.
Represent DCCF professionally within the community.

4. Communications & Awareness

Work with the Charity Manager and office team to support local advertising, social media content and community outreach.
Ensure Hub information is accurate and up to date across all channels.

5. Monitoring, Reporting & Administration

Record attendance, feedback and volunteer activity for each Hub.
Collect stories and insights that demonstrate impact.
Provide monthly updates to the Charity Manager.
Ensure all activities align with Macmillan grant requirements and DCCF policies.

Person Specification

Essential

Experience in community work, support services, or volunteer coordination.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Confident working with individuals affected by cancer or other health conditions.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple locations.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Basic IT skills (email, spreadsheets, online forms).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Willingness to travel across Dorset.

Desirable

Experience in the charity or health sector.
Knowledge of local support services.
Experience delivering group activities or community events.
Lived experience of cancer (personal or as a carer).
