Full job description

HR & Recruitment Manager

Hours: 15 hours per week
Salary: Pro rata amount up to £32,000 per annum (FTE £80,000 ) based on 15 hours per week.

We are seeking an autonomous and commercially driven Standalone HR and Recruitment Manager. In this solo role, you will own the entire people remit from end-to-end recruitment to employee relations and policy development. You will report to the Managing Director and partner directly with senior leadership to build a positive, high performing culture and ensure full compliance with employment legislation.

The role is offered on a part-time basis, working 15 hours per week from the company’s Elstree office. Working arrangements may be structured as either reduced days or reduced daily hours across the working week. From time to time, additional hours may be undertaken remotely where necessary to fulfil the responsibilities and operational requirements of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Own all HR processes and procedures and ensure they are executed efficiently and effectively:

Create, update and implement HR Policies, procedures, and employee handbook to reflect current legislation and best practice
Ensure all HR practices adhere to current UK employment law and data protection (GDPR).
Maintain knowledge of current employment law and provide pragmatic, commercial, and legally compliant advice to the Senior Management Team and line managers
Facilitate a seamless onboarding experience to ensure new hires integrate quickly and effectively
Manage end-to-end ER cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance reviews
Ensure all terms and conditions for employment contracts adhere to current employment law
Maintain an internal database of personnel data ensuring the efficient tracking of probation periods; leave of absences; development reviews and leaver information
Support the annual compensation review; providing data and documentation to assist reviewing managers, where required
Manage the Company Visa Sponsorship Licence SMS system. Supporting visa and sponsorship processes where required
Maintain general HR administration such as change to terms and conditions letters, reference checks, maternity plans etc
Contribute to ISO 9001 compliance and continuous process improvement

Own all recruitment activities:

Manage the full recruitment cycle, including crafting job descriptions, sourcing candidates, screening, interviewing and negotiating offers
Partner with hiring managers to take a full brief for each vacancy, taking time to understand the needs of the business
Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates
Create and post job advertisements across appropriate channels such as Indeed, LinkedIn, CV-library and manage candidate applications and track any associated costs
Source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, and direct outreach
Act as the primary point for recruitment partners, candidates and hiring managers, managing communication throughout the recruitment process
Coordinate and participate in interviews and assessments with hiring managers
Screen applications and conduct initial candidate screening calls/assessments
Provide guidance on selection methods, interviewing techniques, and hiring decisions
Conduct reference and background checks where required
Support a smooth and professional candidate journey from application through to offer

Key Skills:

Proven experience in a standalone generalist role
Proven experience of talent sourcing and candidate attraction
Strong knowledge of recruitment best practices and interviewing and candidate assessment skills
Proven experience of recruiting across multiple business functions
Agency and in-house recruitment experience
Competent in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and PowerPoint
In depth and up to date knowledge of employment legislation and compliance requirements
Communication and relationship building
Negotiation and influencing
Time management and organisation
Problem-solving and decision-making

Person Specification:

Educated to degree level and minimum CIPD 5 (or similar) qualification
Minimum of 5 year + proven HR generalist experience on both strategic and operational levels
Ability to develop strong relationships at all levels
Strong personal judgement, able to remain independent
Highly organised, with the ability to work independently and manage own workload
Solution orientated, adopts a common-sense approach
Excellent attention to detail
