Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for horticulture, landscaping, and outdoor maintenance to develop their skills in a dynamic environment. Prior experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or construction is advantageous. The position is fully paid and suitable for those who enjoy working outdoors and taking pride in their work.

Responsibilities

Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising
Operate hand tools such as spades, rakes, shears, and hedge trimmers to carry out routine tasks
Use power tools and machinery including excavators and irrigation systems to support maintenance activities
Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify areas needing repair or improvement
Assist with construction projects related to outdoor spaces, including installing features or structures
Maintain equipment through basic mechanical knowledge and routine servicing
Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively

Qualifications

Experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, horticulture or related fields is preferred
Mechanical knowledge relevant to maintaining power tools and machinery
Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools for outdoor work
Familiarity with irrigation systems and their maintenance is desirable
Knowledge of construction practices related to outdoor environments is a plus
Ability to operate equipment such as excavators safely and effectively
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Physical fitness to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions
A valid driver’s licence is advantageous but not mandatory
