Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Coffee Shop Manager to join our dynamic team at Ori Caffe within the John Lewis Store Centre MK. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily operations, support staff, and ensure exceptional customer service within a vibrant coffee shop environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and relevant experience in food preparation and team management. This paid position is perfect for individuals looking to develop their managerial skills within the hospitality sector.

Responsibilities

Assist the Coffee Shop Manager in overseeing daily shop operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
Supervise and support team members, including baristas and kitchen staff, fostering a positive working environment
Manage food preparation and ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times
Lead by example in serving customers with professionalism and friendliness, enhancing the overall customer experience
Coordinate with suppliers for stock replenishment and manage inventory levels effectively
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all areas of the shop
Support in training new staff members and conducting ongoing training sessions for existing team members
Assist in planning promotional activities and special events to boost sales and customer engagement

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within a café or restaurant setting
Previous supervising or team management experience in hospitality or similar environments
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and food production processes
Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Customer-focused approach with outstanding communication skills in British English
Experience as a barista or in hospitality roles such as serving or hotel work is highly desirable
Familiarity with kitchen operations, food presentation, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
