Hybrid Working
Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Social Media Content Creator. The Social Media Content Creator is a new role and we’re looking for someone who can take complicated, sometimes serious money subjects, and make engaging, easy to understand social content that’s backed by leading money and pensions guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
The Social Media Content Creator will have a passion for short-form video like TikTok and a real understanding of our audience and the money problems they might be facing – and care about helping.
This role combines creativity, platform fluency, and strong storytelling skills to translate MoneyHelper guidance into content that feels native to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.
The postholder will be the engine of our social content output – filming, editing, scripting, and shaping ideas that resonate with our target audiences while maintaining accuracy, accessibility, and brand trust.
The Social Media Content Creator will be a brand ambassador for MaPS, MoneyHelper, and our amazing consumer-facing services.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Proven experience creating short‑form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts
- Strong filming and editing skills using mobile-first tools (e.g. CapCut, Adobe Express).
- Ability to simplify complex information into clear, engaging content.
- A deep understanding of the social media landscape. We need someone who knows the memes, jokes, phrases and trends. We want someone who lives and breathes TikTok.
- An understanding that content needs to be politically neutral and we have to abide by corporate and wider Government guidelines and expectations.
- Flexible in approach and comfortable working with changing demands and requirements, even mid-project.
- Confident on camera and skilled at directing others.
- Strong storytelling, scripting, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to work at pace and manage multiple content pieces simultaneously.
- Commitment to accessibility and inclusive content design.
Desirable
- Experience working with public sector, financial education, or regulated content.
- And understanding (or even passion) about money topics. We’re here to help people across the UK, including people in vulnerable or difficult financial situations, and want a team that really cares about achieving that goal.
- Basic graphic design or motion graphics skills.
- Experience working with influencers or creators.
- Understanding of Welsh language and content production.
- Familiarity with analytics tools (native platform insights, Brandwatch, Hootsuite, etc.)
