Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Hard Landscaper to join our landscaping team and help deliver high-quality garden projects across London and the surrounding areas.
This is a hands-on role for someone with strong practical landscaping experience who takes pride in doing work properly. You will be part of a small team delivering residential landscaping projects and will be responsible for helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
You will be expected to work across all aspects of hard landscaping, support the organisation of the site, communicate clearly with the office, and help maintain the company’s standards of workmanship, safety, and presentation.
For the right person, this role will include the opportunity to take more responsibility on-site and support junior team members as the team grows.
Key ResponsibilitiesLandscaping Delivery
You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of hard and soft landscaping works, including:
- Groundworks and site preparation
- Excavation, levelling, sub-base preparation, and drainage works
- Paving installation, including porcelain and natural stone
- Decking installation
- Fencing and boundary works
- Raised beds, edging, steps, and other garden structures
- Turfing and lawn installation
- Planting schemes and soil preparation
- Irrigation installation
- Finishing works and snagging
Site Standards
You will help ensure that every project is delivered to the required company standard.
This includes:
- Working from drawings, plans, and specifications
- Following agreed project timelines and instructions
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Using tools, machinery, and materials correctly
- Taking care of company equipment and site materials
- Helping manage deliveries, access, and day-to-day site logistics
- Identifying practical issues on-site and raising them early
- Supporting the team to complete work efficiently and professionally
Communication
You will be expected to communicate clearly and professionally with the office, project manager, and other members of the team.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing clear updates on progress
- Flagging material shortages, delays, or site issues
- Asking for clarification where drawings or specifications are unclear
- Representing the company well when speaking with clients, neighbours, and suppliers
- Working respectfully in clients’ homes and gardens
Health & Safety
You will be expected to follow safe working practices at all times.
This includes:
- Working in line with company health and safety procedures
- Using tools, equipment, and machinery safely
- Keeping the site tidy and reducing avoidable risks
- Reporting hazards, incidents, or concerns promptly
- Supporting junior team members to work safely and correctly
Skills & Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in hard landscaping
- Good practical knowledge of paving, groundworks, decking, fencing, turfing, and general landscaping
- Experience installing porcelain and/or natural stone paving
- Understanding of levels, sub-bases, drainage, and preparation works
- Ability to read basic drawings, plans, and specifications
- Good attention to detail
- A tidy, organised approach to work
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- A reliable and professional attitude
- Pride in the quality and finish of their work
Desirable
The following would be helpful but are not essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience driving vans or company vehicles
- CSCS card
- First Aid training
- Plant knowledge
- Experience using landscaping machinery
- Experience working on premium residential garden projects
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior landscapers
