Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Analyst to join our dynamic IT security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding our organisation’s information systems, networks, and data assets through proactive monitoring, threat detection, and incident response. Duties

Monitor network traffic and security alerts using SIEM tools such as Splunk or SolarWinds to identify potential threats or vulnerabilities.
Implement and manage security measures including firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS systems, VPNs, and encryption protocols (SSL/TLS, IPsec).
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests in accordance with NIST standards and ISO 27002 guidelines.
Manage network infrastructure components such as LAN/WAN configurations, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), DHCP, DNS, and network architecture design.
Oversee the deployment and administration of security solutions like Cisco ISE for identity management and PKI for certificate management.
Develop and maintain incident response plans; investigate security breaches; coordinate disaster recovery efforts.
Support cloud infrastructure security on platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Azure; ensure compliance with cloud architecture best practices.
Collaborate with IT teams to implement system administration tasks on operating systems including Windows, Linux (Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu), Solaris, macOS, and openSUSE.
Automate security processes using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), Python, or Java; utilise configuration management tools like Ansible or Terraform.
Maintain documentation of security policies in line with ITIL standards; support network support activities including remote access software and network installation.

Qualifications

Proven experience in cybersecurity roles with a strong background in network engineering and system administration.
In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, load balancing (F5 or similar), high availability architectures, and SAN storage solutions.
Familiarity with SIEM platforms such as Splunk or SolarWinds; experience with network monitoring tools like PRTG or Nagios is advantageous.
Hands-on experience managing firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS systems, VPNs (IPsec, SSL VPNs), LDAP/Active Directory integration, SSO solutions.
Understanding of information security standards including NIST standards and ISO 27002; experience implementing cybersecurity frameworks aligned with ITIL practices.
Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) along with cloud security best practices.
Skills in scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation; familiarity with DevOps methodologies is desirable.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CEH or Cisco CCNA Security are preferred but not mandatory.
