Fabrication AssistantAbout the Role
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Fabrication Assistant to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role within a busy workshop environment, supporting the fabrication and modification of shipping containers.
The role involves preparing containers for welding, cutting and preparing various types of metal, assisting with fabrication work, and supporting TIG and MIG welding operations using a range of welding equipment.
Previous fabrication or welding experience is beneficial but not essential. We are primarily looking for someone with the right attitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. This is a physically demanding role and would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in producing high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare shipping containers and metal components for fabrication and welding.
- Cut, grind, clean, and prepare a variety of metals for welding and assembly.
- Assist with TIG and MIG welding using a range of welding machines and equipment.
- Support fabrication, modification, and repair work on containers and steel structures.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely and effectively.
- Measure and mark materials accurately from drawings and specifications.
- Assist with the assembly and finishing of fabricated products.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Work closely with senior fabricators and welders to meet production targets and quality standards.
