Full job description

Palram Polycarb is seeking a skilled and proactive Shift Technician (Electrical Bias) to join our Maintenance team. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring production equipment operates efficiently while maintaining company facilities to the highest standards. You will play a key role in minimising downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on machinery and plant equipment.
Maintain and troubleshoot motors, inverter drives, PLCs, pneumatic systems, conveyors, and extrusion machinery.
Perform inspections and testing using precision measuring and diagnostic equipment.
Complete maintenance reports and maintain accurate records.
Support projects and improvement initiatives to increase machine efficiency and reduce costs.
Manage lockout/tagout procedures in accordance with company policy.
Liaise with production teams to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory, liaising with suppliers when required.
Mentor and support apprentices within the maintenance team.
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Key Skill Requirements

City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent engineering qualification.
Strong electrical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience working with extrusion machinery
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and organisational abilities.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good IT skills and experience completing maintenance documentation.
A flexible and adaptable approach to work

Salary Package

Salary: £43,497 per annum plus £2,400 per annum Shift Allowance
