Duties
- Plan, develop, and implement engaging activities that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings to encourage social interaction
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and adapt activities accordingly
- Foster a positive atmosphere that promotes participation, independence, and enjoyment among residents
- Maintain activity schedules, records of participation, and feedback to ensure continuous improvement
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s by creating tailored activities that stimulate cognition and provide comfort
- Communicate effectively with residents’ families and care teams to coordinate special events or personalized activities
Requirements
- Prior experience working in care homes is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of care practices, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care techniques
- Strong communication skills to connect empathetically with residents of diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to organize engaging activities that promote mental and physical well-being
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for residents
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on residents’ changing needs and health conditions
