Full job description

About the Role

Thorpe Doctors Surgery in Thorpe-le-Soken, Clacton-on-Sea, is looking to recruit a new Care Navigator to join our team on a part-time basis for 30 hours per week. The successful candidate will work 6 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, across our 2 practices, Thorpe and Kirby Surgery. The shifts will be either 08.00 - 14.00 or 12.30 - 18.30.

You will be working in a very busy and quite often demanding environment carrying out the following;

Answering telephone calls
Making appointments
Scanning letters
Meeting and greeting patients
General administration

A key element of this role is to navigate patients to the appropriate service.

About the Candidate

To be considered for this position, you will need the following skills and experience:

A good telephone manner is essential
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Be able to work under pressure
Previous experience of working in primary care and knowledge of EMIS web would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record systems
Ability to assess needs and signpost people to appropriate services
Accurate record keeping and attention to detail
Ability to manage a varied enquires
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
Flexibility is a priority to cover additional hours during holiday/sickness absence of colleagues to keep the Surgery running efficiently
