Summary
We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join Carmelcrest In our Bishops Stortford office. This pivotal role sitting between our developing Estimators and Head of Estimating. We are looking for an experienced construction professional who takes genuine ownership of every tender, is motivated by winning work, and has the ambition to progress into senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction and refurbishment projects across various sectors.
- Take full ownership of tenders typically valued between £1m and £10m
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to gather accurate data.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to determine scope and costs.
- Develop robust pricing strategies and identify commercial opportunities and risks
- Assist in tendering processes by preparing competitive bids.
- Identify potential cost saving opportunities.
- Support and mentor current / upcoming Estimating team
- Participate in tender interviews, client meetings and post-tender negotiations
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
- Proven experience pricing projects from £1m to £10m
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Confidence presenting at tender adjudications and client-facing meetings
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction methodology
- Effective communication skills for liaising with stakeholders.
- The ambition and capability to progress into a future leadership role
- A competitive, work-winning mindset with a genuine desire to secure projects
- Experience working on Public Sector projects within health, education, leisure, or blue light sectors would be advantageous.
