You will be working within Cementation Skanska - Fabrications, based at Bentley Works in Doncaster. With a proud manufacturing heritage spanning over a century, our facility specialises in the fabrication of complex steel structures and heavy engineering solutions.
As the Plater/Welder, you will:

Manufacture, modify or repair to a technical drawing, sample or instruction.

Progress the work / job on a routine basis, from initial inspection to final inspection, in line with the requirements stipulated by the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC)

Identify materials and tools as required for the job, ensuring continuity of the work
-
Ensure estimated timed jobs and deadlines are met – this may involve extra working hours
-
Ensure that any daily / weekly equipment checks are carried out when required and reported and documented accordingly

Maintain good housekeeping standards in the workplace at all times
-
Pass on your skills and knowledge to your colleagues

Maintain good communication at all times with your chargehands, supervisors, RWC and colleagues
-
Report to the supervision about any training needs
-
Complete all relevant paperwork throughout the job to ensure the correct standards are maintained.
We are looking for:
-
City and Guilds / NVQ or equivalent in Welding and Fabrication; experience in manufacturing, modifying or repairing plant and equipment to a technical drawing, sample or instruction

Previous experience in heavy bespoke fabrication work, this includes structural steel, crane grillages, bridge works, plate girders etc.

Previous experience in some of the following processes MAG,FCAW,SAW,MMA.

Previous experience in Full/part penetration butt welds and large fillet welds.

Sit work experience (installation and repairs.

Coded welder qualification

Health and Safety trained - CSCS card (advantageous)

IPAF trained (advantageous)

Environmental awareness
Ability to read technical drawing
