moira" is working with a well-established manufacturing business that's looking for a Material Planner Buyer to join its supply chain team.
In simple terms, your job is to make sure the factory has the right materials, in the right place, at the right time.
You'll be ordering materials from suppliers, monitoring stock levels, and making sure deliveries arrive when they're needed to keep production running smoothly.
You'll work closely with production, sales, finance and suppliers to solve problems before they become problems. It's a varied role that combines planning, purchasing and supplier management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys staying organised, thinking ahead and building great working relationships.
This isn't just about raising purchase orders—it's about keeping the entire supply chain moving so customers receive their orders on time.
What You’ll Be DoingKeeping Supply & Demand in Sync
- Build and manage material plans based on real demand, forecasts, and live sales orders
- Work closely with production, sales, and solutions teams to make sure planning is accurate and joined-up
- Keep MRP data sharp and reliable so decisions are based on the right information
- Stay ahead of supplier delivery schedules and proactively manage any supply risks
Owning Supplier & Purchasing Activity
- Take ownership of purchase orders from creation through to delivery
- Build strong, practical relationships with suppliers that drive reliability and performance
- Resolve issues quickly, whether that’s pricing, quality, or late deliveries
- Support sourcing and negotiation activity locally to achieve the best balance of cost, quality, and lead time
- Keep invoicing clean and ensure suppliers are paid on time
Getting Inventory & Cost Right
- Monitor stock levels and take action before issues arise—not after
- Spot opportunities to reduce waste, improve turns, and optimise inventory levels
- Support initiatives that reduce cost and shorten lead times across the supply chain
- Use data and trends to influence smarter planning decisions
Working Across the Business
- Collaborate daily with production, sales, finance, customer service, and solutions teams
- Play an active role in new product and solution introductions
- Support continuous improvement across systems, processes, and IMS standards
What Good Looks Like
You’ll know you’re succeeding when:
- Suppliers deliver reliably and on time
- Inventory is balanced—not overstocked, not stretched
- Production runs without material-related disruption
- Financial processes (like invoicing) run cleanly and efficiently

What You BringExperience
- Ideally 3+ years in supply chain, logistics, purchasing, or materials planning
Qualifications
- Degree (desirable)
- CIPS Level 4 or working towards (or equivalent experience)

- Confident working with ERP/MRP systems (SAP experience a plus)
- Strong analytical mindset—you spot patterns and act early
- Comfortable negotiating and managing supplier relationships
- Clear communicator who can work across multiple teams
