The role:
To implement, organise appropriate personalised & achievable, therapeutic & recreational activities to enhance the lives & improve the well being of all residents in our care home.
12 hour contract.
Reports to: Registered Home Manager / Deputy Manager / Clinical Lead Nurse / Duty Nurse

Responsible for:
- Working alongside other coordinators, liaising and communicating as a team; to plan & gain approval for a creative programme of varied group and / or individual events following discussions with residents, nurses & relatives and obtaining the authorisation of the registered home manager.
- Publicise & communicate a structured activities programme, ensuring that all residents have access
- Run, supervise and manage all events on the programme giving regard to patient safety, comfort & enjoyment. Group events may for example include craft classes, music, films, quizzes, bingo, reminiscence, entertainment, etc…
- Accompany residents on outings, ensuring adequate provision of support staff & that all safety standards are met, risk assessments undertaken & recorded particularly with regards to mobility.
- Keep records of all finances associated with any activity programme; which must be in keeping with the agreed budget. Manage supply of all equipment.
- Organise regular visits from Ministers of religious denominations. Assist with transport for residents who wish to attend ant religious services or event.
- Attend to individual resident’s social needs, including 1:1 private conversations, letter writing, reading & assisting with the pursuance of individual hobbies or interests.
- To take responsibility for the completion of the homes news letter & activity boards.
- Update Facebook with the activites going on at the home.
- Any other reasonable task requested by a Nurse or Duty Manager, which is within your competence.
General Duties:
- We are seeking a dynamic individual with good organisational skills.
- An excellent communicator, who listens and understands individuals needs, interests and goals.
- Can communicate effectively with staff, family and outside agencies.
- Good time management skills, can plan, schedule and execute multiple events and manage budgets.
- Flexible and problem solving you will be able to adapt to changing circumstances and think on your feet.
- Basic computer skills are needed and you will have an artistic flair, experience of care for older people in a home environment is desirable, but promotional, entertainment or arts experience will be considered.
A vocational qualification in Activity Leadership or Degree in related occupational therapy on recreational studies would be helpful.
A DBS will be required to undertake this role.
