We are looking for a motivated and highly organised Business Manager to join our Operational Support Directorate, playing a key role in the delivery and continuous improvement of outpatient clinic management.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a busy and dynamic service. You will work closely with clinical, operational and administrative colleagues, supporting service performance and responding to day-to-day challenges.
As a Business Manager, you will combine operational coordination with team leadership, taking responsibility for managing administrative teams and overseeing clinic processes. You will have the opportunity to use your analytical and problem-solving skills to improve services, and contribute to service development.

Make a real impact on service delivery
Support outpatient nursing in the coordination of the day-to-day running of outpatient clinics, helping ensure clinics run smoothly and efficiently
Provide expert support to service management teams in the set up of outpatient clinics, incl. room/nursing availability and PAS clinic management.
Manage clinic capacity in PAS, including clinic creation, rebooking and cancellations
Work closely with clinical teams to respond to service pressures and support delivery of performance targets
Be involved in improving processes and implementing new ways of working
Support the development of standard operating procedures
Lead and support a dedicated team
Provide line management to administrative staff, including supervision, appraisals and day-to-day support
Help develop a positive team culture, supporting staff wellbeing and development
Allocate and prioritise workload to ensure effective service delivery
Use data to drive improvement
Monitor service performance and data quality to support operational decision-making
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency & patient experience
Support reporting & the use of digital systems such as Bookwise, PAS and NHS eRS
Work collaboratively across teams
Build strong working relationships with clinical, operational and administrative colleagues

The post holder is responsible for supporting the delivery, coordination and performance of outpatient services within the Operational support directorate. They will have line management responsibility for the outpatient co-ordinator and clinic management clinic administrators. This role will bring together both outpatient administration and clinic management functions.
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the coordination and smooth running of Outpatient clinics and Outpatient Departments.
Oversee administrative processes for clinic management, including clinic creation, cancellations, rebooking and capacity management within agreed protocols.
Oversee administrative process of management OPD functions, including outpatient room scheduling and outpatient nursing rosters.
Provide line management to the outpatient co-ordinator and the clinic management clinic administrators. Line management includes but is not limited to supervision, appraisals, sickness management, recruitment, flexible working, training, performance issues and initial stages of grievance and discipline procedures.
Provide support to the Outpatient senior nursing team, within agreed criteria.
Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, safe and effective workflows.
Work collaboratively with clinical, operational and administrative teams to manage service pressures and optimise performance.
Participate as a contributing member of the departmental management team, attending relevant meetings and forums.
Contribute to service planning, business case development and service improvement initiatives.
Assist the Outpatient Nurse lead in supervising, implementing and troubleshooting administration related digital systems (e.g. voice recognition and electronic vetting)
Understanding of Access Digital systems to support the Service delivery manager and Service improvement manager (e.g. NHS eRS, Attend anywhere, DrDoctor).
In busy periods or in the case of annual leave or sickness the Business Manager will be expected to provide assistance to other colleagues within the department and be prepared to undertake any other duties commensurate to the grade and as requested by the line manager.
