School Caretaker –Foxglove School (Hinckley)
Contract type: Part tme, permanent
Salary: £12,809 pa (20 hours per week term time and 2 hours per week during school holidays)

Foxglove School is a brand-new specialist provision based in Hinckley which is due to open in the Autumn Term 2026. Although new, the school is supported by Hopedale Children & Family Services Ltd — an established group with an excellent reputation for SEND education. The school will provide specialist education and therapeutic support to children and young people, aged 3 to19, with social, emotional and mental health needs, autism, cognition and learning needs, including severe learning difficulties.

We are looking to recruit a caretaker that will be responsible for a wide range of duties and responsibilities connected with the fabric and grounds of the School, including security, maintenance and cleaning and also competent at basic building repairs. With knowledge of using small industrial /electrical / mechanical equipment. Able to understand and apply regulations (such as health & safety, manual handling regulations etc.).
Key aspects of this role include:
· Duties include general maintenance, moving furniture / equipment around the school/home, fire & smoke alarm testing, emergency lighting testing, fire extinguisher testing, water systems checks and relevant record keeping.
- Completing basic building repairs and maintenance and grounds maintenance.
- Responsible for setting up and monitoring repair and maintenance systems for the School and reporting all findings on to the School Business Manager.
- The caretaker is specifically accountable for the security and general maintenance of the School
- Able to regularly handle & carry heavy items.
- When suitable and where risk assessed be willing and able to work alongside children on occasion in completing routine tasks.
- Able to show initiative and work proactively to ensure the smooth running of the site.
We are looking for a caretaker who:
Has a proven record of a high level of attendance at work; honest; able to work effectively with little supervision; polite and courteous to members of the public; calm and patient when under pressure; co-operative with other employees, children, parents and visitors.
Willing and able to start work early when required. Be on call for emergencies.
