Our setting is open Mon-Thurs each week, closed Friday-Sunday so a long weekend, every weekend!
Hours
-Full time, working 38 hours per week, across 4 days, Mon-Thurs between the hours of 7.40am-6pm. For example, 2x 8-6pm shifts and 2x 7.40-5.40pm shifts. (Part time 3 full days may also be available)
+ 2 training days per year 9-3.15pm on 2 Fridays (6 months apart, each year) and monthly evening meetings, Stay and Play sessions for key workers, which are all paid as extra or paid as TOIL
Candidate requirements
- Level 2 or 3 in an Early Years or Teaching Assistant/Supporting teaching in schools qualification
- A fun loving, bubbly personality and lots of energy is a must for this fast-paced role
- At least 1 years’ Early Years’ experience (will consider newly qualified if placements in nurseries have been completed).
- Valid Paediatric First Aid certificate
- Position is subject to 2 written references and a clear enhanced DBS check
Duties
*A smiley face that makes every child feel special and a highly motivated personality with a love of small people.
*The ability to sing in tune is not necessary, however, the ability to sing out of tune in front of a crowd is essential.
*A high level of multitasking is essential. Doing 10 different things in 3 minutes is the norm here!
*You must be able to distribute warm hugs as required.
*It is of upmost importance that you can rapidly count heads of numerous moving small people.
*You must have a high level of comfort around talking about bodily functions. You must also have a strong sense of smell to enable you to respond swiftly to said bodily functions.
*You preferably do not have an aversion to an environment that at times, resembles the aftermath of a tornado.
*You must be able to remain focused in environments with high noise levels.
*Pretending to eat playdough creations realistically is required and drinking endless cups of tea made for you in our mud kitchen.
*The ability to remember the names of many children, their parents, siblings, grandparents, pets and special soft toys is a key component of this job.
*You must feel comfortable sitting on furniture that does not contain all of your behind and is so low to the ground, you might as well sit on the floor. (which we do too!)
*The ability to answer the same questions over and over again throughout the day, eg, why, what, who and where are things? And be happy with the fact that your answers are not even listened too or taken on board by the children that have asked.
*You must have the ability to read a ten page fairy-tale upside down and with at least 3 interruptions per page in a noisy environment.
*Authentically showing a curiosity for bugs and creepy crawlies is essential, even if they are your biggest fear on earth you must act like they are your best friends.
*See the funny side when children call you anything but your actual name.
*Be happy with starting your shift with clean clothes and combed hair, but leave with snot, dribble, mud, paint, glue and other unknown artefacts on them. Leaving your shift like this proves you and the children have had a good day!
*Love being outside, as we spend at least 50% of our day enjoying outdoor activities!
Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families.
