Job Overview

Are you currently working in SEN education and looking for a change? Or do you hold qualified Teacher’s status or the HLTA qualification and have a passion for working with individuals with additional needs? If so, we would love to speak with you.

Brightside is the leading and largest specialist organisation in Northumberland, providing a wide range of unique, high quality and educationally focused services to 18-35 year olds across the continuum of additional needs. We are seeking a skilled, caring and motivated individual to add to our fantastic team of professionals.

Our innovative approach and model of care and support dynamically challenges stereotypes of traditional day services. We are the strongest advocates for high quality opportunities and equitable life choices for those with additional needs and believe in full and meaningful integration into local communities. In fact, every service is centred around this inclusive ethos and as such we spend much of our time out of the centre, which allows for meaningful interactions and engagement with the community.

We are offering a full time permanent position with core hours of 9.30-3.30, Monday to Friday.
Dedicated administration time.
Additional hours available.
Salary is competitive and negotiable, depending upon skills and experience.
Specialist training is offered with a focus on continual professional development.
Established and friendly local organisation that is driven to do things differently to provide outstanding and innovative support.

Required Experience

Qualified Teacher Status or HLTA qualification

Additional Information
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check, in accordance with legal requirements, and the successful candidate will also be required to provide both personal and professional references (one from the most recent employer) as part of the recruitment process.

The suitable candidate should possess both physical and mental capabilities to effectively handle the demands of the role. Key responsibilities include delivering personal care and participating in outings, which may involve walking and assisting with wheelchairs.

At times, the role can be mentally demanding, requiring a patient, calm, and composed approach.

The ideal candidate shall hold a full UK driving licence.
