Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified tutor to support a postgraduate student in improving their academic writing and achieving high academic performance, in preparation for PhD applications. This role involves providing academic guidance, feedback, and structured support throughout the research and writing process.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one online tutoring sessions
Support development of a research proposal and dissertation
Help refine research questions, structure, and academic argumentation
Advise on research design and methodology
Guide literature review development and critical analysis
Support case study selection and analysis
Review draft sections and provide detailed feedback
Assist with revisions to improve clarity, coherence, and academic quality

Requirements

Essential

UK Master’s in Distinction or PhD candidate in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or a closely related field
Strong academic writing skills in English
Experience supervising, teaching, or mentoring postgraduate students
Familiarity with qualitative and/or mixed research methods in urban studies
Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback

Preferred

Experience supporting students preparing for PhD applications
Familiarity with Urban Analysis Reports and case-study-based research
Background in public space design, urban regeneration, or related areas
Prior experience reviewing dissertations or theses

Working Arrangement

Remote, online sessions
Flexible schedule
Short-term project (until submission deadline)

Compensation

Hourly rate negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
