Lead Support Worker

Are you an experienced Support Worker looking to take the next step in your career?

At Brothers of Charity, our Lead Support Workers play a key role in the day-to-day running of our services. Working alongside the management team, you will lead by example and help ensure the people we support receive high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, dignity, choice and inclusion.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced care professional who is ready to develop their leadership skills while continuing to make a meaningful difference to the people we support.

About the Role

Alongside providing direct support, you will take on additional leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and supporting colleagues, assisting with staff induction and development, helping maintain high standards of care and supporting the day-to-day running of the service.

You will also act as a senior point of contact during shifts and provide support to the team in the absence of the Service Manager.

Our aim is to empower the people we support to develop independence, build confidence and achieve their personal goals, while ensuring our services consistently meet high standards.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced, caring and motivated individual who is ready to take on a leadership role.

You should have:

Previous experience working in health and social care
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to lead, motivate and support a team
Good organisational and problem-solving skills
A positive, patient and person-centred approach
The confidence to make appropriate decisions and provide guidance to colleagues
A commitment to promoting dignity, choice, independence and inclusion

Flexibility is essential. The successful candidate must be able to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep-ins, where required.

Key Responsibilities

Lead by example in delivering high-quality, person-centred support
Provide guidance, mentoring and support to Support Workers
Assist with staff induction, supervision and ongoing development
Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day running of the service
Act as a senior point of contact and respond appropriately to issues arising during shifts
Ensure individual support plans and risk assessments are followed and reviewed
Promote independence, dignity, choice and respect at all times
Support individuals with daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, shopping and budgeting
Encourage and support individuals to access the community, social activities and appointments
Administer and oversee medication in accordance with organisational procedures
Maintain accurate records, incident reports and other documentation
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals
Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory requirements are followed

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the role, there may be exposure to challenging behaviour, manual handling, medication administration and passive smoke environments.

Appropriate training and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you can carry out your responsibilities safely and confidently.

Successful candidates will be required to complete a PVG disclosure check and will be required to hold, or work towards, an SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care, in line with regulatory requirements.

Previous experience in a senior, lead or supervisory care role is desirable.
