Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Creative)

Hull

Working Hours: 28 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £26,772 - £40,052 FTE (Actual Salary £21,417.60 - £32,041.60 per annum)

Annual Leave: 40 days per annum (pro-rata from a full time entitlement of 42 days)

As our Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Creative), you will work with learners across a range of foundation programmes, supporting them to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to progress into further study, employment or wider opportunities.

The successful candidate will have a creative background and be able to use this to deliver engaging, inclusive and practical learning experiences. You will support learners with a range of needs, including those with SEND, and will be confident in adapting your teaching approach to ensure learners are able to access the curriculum and achieve their goals.

The post holder will need to be innovative, flexible and learner-focused, with the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, while also contributing to curriculum planning, learner progress, and the wider development of the provision.

Responsibilities of our Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Creative):

Delivering high quality teaching and learning, ensuring stretch, challenge and engagement of students of all ages and abilities
Planning, prepare and update all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials, using Canvas
Coordinating and support course activities which will support the achievement of curriculum area targets
Taking responsibility for and facilitate academic tutorials for students
Be involved in the marketing, promotion, recruitment and interviewing of students, including attending open events, school tasters and enrolment events, amongst other activities
Assessing, monitor, and record feedback to students to facilitate their best achievement using the College’s data systems and processes, working to exam board guidelines and quality systems
Leading, coordinate and support IV/IQA processes within the curriculum area
Working closely with staff and managers within the College to ensure consistency and best practice is shared
Contributing to the quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area
Maintaining an up to date knowledge of their subject specialism
Completing all mandatory training in a timely manner and ensure that training is updated in accordance with College guidance/regulations
Actively comply and contribute to the College’s policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities and Data Protection

What we’re looking for in our Lecturer in Foundation Learning (Creative):

Subject specialism (minimum Level 3/4)
Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards
GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Experience of working in an academic setting and working with learners to support their needs
Knowledge of the specialist sector
Organisational, administrative and time management skills
Ability to use own initiative to develop and improve the service within the constraints of the College policy and procedures
