Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for a Transport & Carrier Supervisor to join our Operations team, supporting the efficient running of our transport network and ensuring high levels of service delivery to our customers.
As a Transport & Carrier Supervisor at Nisbets, you will play a key role in overseeing daily outbound transport operations and managing relationships with third-party carriers. You will support the delivery of a cost-effective, high-performing transport operation, ensuring that customer orders are dispatched and delivered in line with our service commitments.
This is a fast-paced and operationally focused role where you will work closely with internal teams and external partners to drive performance, monitor key metrics, and resolve operational challenges. You will be instrumental in maintaining service standards, improving carrier performance, and identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
This role will be based at our Fourth Way office in Avonmouth, with flexibility to work from home as part of a hybrid working pattern following a period of training.
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise the day-to-day execution of outbound transport operations across the network
- Ensure timely dispatch and delivery of customer orders, meeting OTIF (On Time In Full) targets
- Coordinate closely with warehouse teams to align picking, loading, and dispatch priorities
- Oversee the daily activities of site-based shunt drivers, ensuring safe and efficient yard operations
- Monitor carrier performance against key KPIs including service, cost, compliance, and claims
- Support carrier performance reviews and contribute to improvement plans
- Escalate performance issues where required and support resolution of service challenges
- Produce accurate daily transport performance reports and KPI dashboards
- Analyse transport costs and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and savings
- Track and report on key metrics such as OTIF, cost per delivery, delivery lead times, and service failures
- Support delivery-related escalations and proactively identify root causes of issues
- Ensure operations align with the Nisbets customer promise and service expectations
- Maintain accurate transport documentation and support audit requirements
Capabilities, Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience in transport, logistics, or distribution operations
- Experience managing third-party carriers within a fast-paced environment
- Experience of managing transport fleet operations would be beneficial
- Strong operational planning experience, ideally within transport or yard management
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce and interpret performance reports
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A continuous improvement mindset with a proactive, solution-focused approach
- Strong sense of ownership with the confidence to challenge and influence where needed
